in the province of Western Cape.

The town sits along the banks of the popular Walker Bay. If you enjoy the ocean and have a fondness of wildlife, you may be able to catch a glimpse of the popular Southern Right Whales – especially in the months of July, August, September, October, November, and December. Dozens of these creatures visit Hermanus from the Antarctic region to engaging in the breeding and rearing of their young. It is not at all uncommon for these magnificent creatures to come exceptionally close to the coastline. For the best views, stand atop one of the many cliffs that hang over the water!

As with most coastal towms, Hermanus, South Africa offers a vast array of water activities. These include kayaking, fishing, swimming, shark cage diving, and sunbathing. Additional activities include paragliding, horseback riding, hiking, boating, bicycling, plane riding, and activities that are similar in nature. As you explore the town, you will discover an incredibly large selection of boutiques,art galleries, clothing shops, and jewelry stores. Nearly all shopping and dining venues are situated near the center of town. Those that are not are within walking distance of the town’s center.

The climate of Hermanus, South Africa is classified as “Mediterranean” That is, it is relatively warm, but not overly-harsh. This town is about 115km to the southeast of the extremely popular Cape Town. While the town does boast of its historic railway that was designed to boost its economy, it is – by all definitions – a small fishing village.

In fact, most of the people that reside in and around Hermanus call the town “The Village”. In exploring the natural scenery of the town, you will find that it has the highest level of diversity when it comes to plant life. While the main plant is the Fynbos, to date, a total of 1,474 different species of plant life has been identified. Hermanus, South Africa combines natural beauty with the appeal of commercial luxuries to make it a unique travel destination.
