Airports in Namibia

Namibia is a country in Southern Africa that is popular among Eco-tourists. The land is untouched and filled with extensive wildlife. Situated along the Atlantic Ocean, there is much to see and do. Unbelievably, there are over two dozen airports, making flights accessible to any region you desire.

Busiest Airport

Hosea Kutako/Windhoek Airport is by far the busiest airport in Namibia since it is positioned just outside of the largest city, Windhoek. This is an international airport that interacts with regional hubs in Johannesburg or Cape Town, South Africa. It is the only airport that has weekly non-stop flights to Frankfurt, Munich and London-Gatwick.

Atlantic Paradise

Luderitz/Diaz Point Airport is located in the Karas Region of Namibia. Rental cars are available at or near this airport for traveling to seaside resorts. Walvis Bay/Rooikop Airport is used by many marine lovers, fishermen, and plant life admirers. For those that are visiting for relaxation, Swakopmund Airport is right next door to the Swakopmund Beach Resort, where golf courses and galleries entertain each new arrival.

The African Big Five

To some, the African Big Five may sound like a sports activity and in a way, it is. The Katima Mulilo Airport delivers big game hunters to the Caprivi region where the African lion, African elephant, White rhinoceros, African leopard and Cape buffalo roam. Future plans for upgraded roads are in the works for easier access to great hunters from all around the world.

Rundu for a Taste of South Africa

The Rundu Airport services mainly tourists that are interested in the life, food, housing and culture of simple living. Open markets and woodcarvers make this area a delightful way to spend a day. Restaurants serve traditional foods of the area, such as fish, mahangu, and ground nuts. The airport is located approximately 4 miles from the center of town.

There are other airports situated around Namibia for traveling to the destination of your choice. The Keetmanshoop Airport, for example, is a smaller-sized facility but has the potential for growth. They have customs and immigration services and houses the Namibia Aviation Training Academy (NATA). The prime location could certainly become a future tourist hub for charter operators.

While many of the airports of Namibia are different in nature, the country provides conveniences such as hotels, rental cars, and eateries to make tourists as comfortable as possible.
